Carolyn Mitchell Canvas Workshop

Carolyn Mitchell will be teaching CGNA (and other interested people) a two-day workshop October 27, 28, 2026., at St John's Anglican Church Portsmouth, 41 Church St, Kingston, ON.

Carolyn is a Canadian needlework designer who is very familiar with many stitching techniques but is expert at canvaswork and hardanger.  She has taught classes previously for CGNA. She has also taught at EAC/ACB seminars and at some international needlework groups.  She has held executive positions in some local guilds and at the national level.

October 27, 28, 2026 Canvas Workshop

Carolyn will be teaching both a beginner and more advanced project in two groups. Members should work in the project group they choose even if much of the information is the same. The more advanced group can be planning as Carolyn gets the first group started working. She will then travel back and forth between the groups.

Beginners should choose “Treasured Beginnings” (shown to the right) and more advance students the “Purse Pocket” (shown below to left). Having said that, the “Treasured Beginnings" can also be made into a “tray” with additional fabric and stitching. More advanced students also have this option.

Carolyn has also offered to bring some supplies like canvas, specialty threads and other design patterns. (The pattern for the class you are taking is included in your $72 or $77 fee). If you wish to order canvas or other patterns from Carolyn, please order them in a separate e-mail to Carolyn.  If ordering canvas, please identify the project you will be taking as well as the colourway you will be using.

The Purse Pocket class should be able to use threads from their stash as you are choosing colours and stitches.

If you wish to order canvas or other patterns from her, please let her know prior to September 22  and she will bring it to the class. Any supplies she is asked to bring she requests that she is paid directly. However, she would like that done either at lunch hour or after class on the second day.  If members order canvas or extra patterns, she will let them know the total owed when they order.
