KHQ Group Quilt: The Elegant Scrap Quilt , 2007
72" x 90 "

This is a scrap quilt. However, it has a certain elegance about it. Due to the types of fabrics used in the bocks and the beautiful fabric on the back, you can see a lattice, which seems to take on a 3-D effect.

Members of the Kingston Heirloom Quilters made a pair of blocks each using the same fabrics. By reversing the placement of medium and dark values, the two blocks using the same fabrics look completely different. The blocks were made from 5" squares of fabric named "nickel squares".

A version of this quilt can be seen on the cover of a quilt book called "Nickel Quilts" by Pat Speth and Charlene Thode. They named that quilt "Paducah Nine Patch".

Hand quilted and both hand and machine pieced by the Kingston Heirloom Quilters.

This quilt was sold to a good home after our show, Quilts Kingston 2008.
